Reserving a Kitten
Have you found your favourite kitten? Then you will naturally want to know how the reservation process works and when your kitten can join you. Here you will find the most important information.
Meeting the Kittens
The kittens can be visited by appointment from approximately 5–6 weeks of age. This gives you the opportunity to meet them calmly and get to know their individual personalities.
For me, it is important that a kitten is a good match for you not only in appearance, but especially in character and future living environment.
Health and Preparation
The kittens receive all the care and attention they need to grow up healthy and well socialised before going to their new homes.
They:
- are dewormed several times;
- receive vaccinations at 9 and 12 weeks;
- are microchipped;
- are checked before leaving for their new home.
Normally, kittens can move to their new home 2–3 days after their final vaccination, at around 12 weeks of age.
Sometimes a mother cat stops nursing her kittens earlier than expected. In such a situation, depending on the development and health of the individual kitten, an earlier move may be considered.
This will never be before 9 weeks of age and only after I have personally assessed whether it is responsible and in the best interest of the kitten.
The health and wellbeing of the kitten always come first.
Reservation and Deposit
To officially reserve a kitten, a 20% deposit of the agreed purchase price is required.
The deposit will be fully refunded if the reserved kitten dies before the final transfer or becomes ill and, as a result, cannot move to its new home.
If the buyer decides to cancel the purchase themselves, the deposit is non-refundable.
A confirmed deposit gives priority on the waiting list. If a kitten is currently on option for another person and someone else wishes to reserve it, I will first contact the person who has the option and give them the opportunity to confirm the reservation.
If you have already reserved a kitten but later feel that another available kitten is a better match for you, the reservation can, by agreement, be transferred to another kitten, provided that kitten has not already been reserved.
Reserving a Kitten from a Future Litter
If you are looking for a particular colour or sex, you can register your preference and make a deposit even before a litter is born.
This gives you priority when a kitten matching your preferred characteristics is born.
Of course, before the birth, it is impossible to guarantee that a kitten of a particular colour or sex will actually be born.
If the kitten you are looking for is born, the reservation becomes final and the deposit remains in place.
If the desired kitten is not born, you can request a full refund of your deposit.
You can also decide not to continue waiting and request your deposit back at any time before the kitten is born.
When Can Your Kitten Move?
Kittens leave my home only when I consider them physically and socially ready for the move.
Normally, this is at around 12 weeks of age and a few days after their final vaccination. In special circumstances, this timing may be different, but only when it is safe and appropriate for the individual kitten.
You will receive the necessary documents and information when your kitten moves to its new home.
The kittens are not sold for breeding. The new owner is required to have the kitten neutered or spayed at around 5–6 months of age. After receiving proof of the procedure, the digital TICA documents are provided, stating that the kitten is not intended for breeding or showing.
Personal Delivery to Your Home
If you live further away or are unable to collect your kitten yourself, I can personally deliver your kitten to your home.
The delivery fee is calculated according to the actual kilometres driven, both ways.
For Spain, the rate is €0.50 per kilometre. The delivery date and exact distance are agreed in advance.
When personally transporting a kitten, I always make sure that the journey is as safe and comfortable as possible for the kitten.
